Last Saturday, Mike and I stopped into the Nike store in Georgetown during our run so he could exchange his tank top. I love both the style and colors of their new running tank tops and t-shirts! They remind of Lululemon’s Run Swiftly line.
– Nike Dri-Fit Knit tank
– Nike Dri-Fit Knit Short-sleeve
– Nike Dri-Fit Texture Short-sleeve V-neck
I was also very excited to see some new Rival short colors! These shorts are the best!
Can a shirt help to improve your posture? That question was asked in a Wall Street Journal article this week, reviewing AlignMed’s posture shirt. Posture is so important to keep a good running form, and prevent injuries and general aches/pains/soreness. This shirt claims that, with its built-in elastic bands pressing on the upper-back and shoulder muscles, it can help improve one’s posture by activating the muscles.
The WSJ agrees that these shirts can help correct bad habits of hunching one’s shoulders and leaning one’s head forward. At $95 for a lightweight tee and $195 for a heavier version, these shirts aren’t cheap and they won’t solve the underlying issues causing bad posture such as an imbalance between strong pectoral muscles and weak upper back muscles. These shirts are popular among professional athletes, specifically golfers and baseball players who use their upper back and shoulder muscles often and proper posture is important to avoid fatigue. I often see runners hunched over from the constant leaning and weak upper back muscles, so can see how it would be helpful to have a shirt to remind one to straighten up, tighten up the core muscles and align the torso.
This week I got an email announcing that Picky Bar has a new flavor, Cookie Doughpness, available exclusively (at least for now) to Picky Club members!! My 3-month Picky bar membership has expired so, of course, I needed to sign up again ASAP to try out these new bars! Plus, with a new subscription comes a new Picky Bar t-shirt. My last Picky tee was awesome – so soft – so I’m excited to get the new one in the mail.
Picky has completely redone its website including its Picky Club (free shipping now and no more paying via Paypal); you can choose 12, 18 or 24 bars a month now, allowing for more flexibility. The Picky crew is also holding a contest, letting its customers get their picture on Picky Bars by using the hashtag Lifepoints. Such a cool brand! I love these bars for being gentle on my stomach since I have IBS, keeping me full and giving me lots of energy; here’s my review from May.
