I’ve expressed my love of Picky Bars in an earlier blog post and continue to be impressed by both the product and company. Basically, Picky Bars are a gluten and dairy free bar originally created for athletes with the ideal 4:1 ratio of carbohydrates to protein. I can finally run without dealing with stomach issues related to pre-run bars and feel energized for long runs and races. Plus, Picky bars taste great!
Since Picky Bars aren’t that easy to find in stores, I joined the Picky Bar Club last spring and received 18 bars each month for 3 months. Since then, the company has updated their packaging, website, and Picky Club options. Now you can choose either 12, 18 or 24 bars each month, for a 3 month minimum at a discounted rate with free shipping. It’s easy to pick out your favorite flavors, in groups of three, and you can update your picks each month. It’s nice not to have to worry about restocking your Picky Bars each month, especially if you rely on them for pre-workout fuel. I also like them as an afternoon snack or breakfast on-the-go (I always have one in my purse).
Picky Club members receive a free, super soft American Apparel Picky Bar t-shirt.
But since I already have one from my previous Picky Club subscription, I called Picky’s customer service to see if there was another option. It’s funny to be directed to a friendly voicemail message that sounds more like you’re calling a friend rather than trying to reach a customer service representative at a company. Rather than leaving a message and having them call me back (wasn’t a very urgent issue), I sent a short email to Picky’s customer service and received a response soon after. Mel offered to send a discontinued trucker hat in place of the t-shirt and said she’d flag my order when it comes through. She couldn’t have been more friendly and accommodating, even putting a nice handwritten note in with my package.
Another testament to Picky Bar’s exceptional customer service is that Mel actually called me back even though I didn’t leave a message! She saw there was a missed call on their caller ID so called me and left a message. With such exceptional customer service and an incredible product, I’ll be a lifelong Picky Bar customer.
I also love the new box Picky Bars arrive in. Previously, the bars were shipped in a padded envelope and I’d move them into a bin. I love that I can just put the box on a shelf and the bars stay stacked and organized. It’s the little things!
